28 on the 28th!

So, today I am 28 on June 28th. That means it's my Special birthday. Since I was a kid and somebody told me that your special birthday was the day you turned the age of the day, I have anticipated my 28th. So, this morning I did some thinking before I started my day. What exactly have I done in the past 28 years? And why have they gone by so fast? I then began thinking of the top things that I could recall. Like for instance, Asking Jesus in my heart. It was June 1995, I was fixing to be 8. It was at VBS at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Pride, LA. Bro. Mitch Harris was the pastor. Also that summer my baby brother was born. He just turned 20 on the 25th! Or, the summer I worked for Judson Baptist Retreat Center in Jackson, LA for Debi & Eugene Morris. I was a Girls Camp Counselor for 4 weeks. Awesome experience. This is when I knew God was calling me some way into the Ministry. Another memorable moment: Going 41-1 with the Silliman Lady Wildcat Basketball team my Senior Year of High School...WONDERFUL Memories. I was not a starter but I was part of the Team. I even have a Championship Ring (I'll show it to you if you ask!) Starting College at Northwestern knowing that I was going to be an RN for the rest of my life...then I met Bubba Mills...the love of my life. Finally (ok...just to let you know I am crying my eyes out right now) feeling like I knew what God wanted for me. Knowing that HE had called me many years ago to be a Minister's wife. June 14, 2003 walking down the aisle at Lanier Baptist Church seeing Jack George Mills III waiting for me. Scared to death I was but knowing this is what I wanted more than anything! I'll never forget hugging my dad good bye that day...or thinking that there was balloons on my car only to find out that they were condoms and that my now brother in law Jon Parker had blown them up (GROSS! and how innocent was I to think they were balloons!) August 3, 2005 my world changed forever again...Makayla Grace Mills all 8 lbs. 8 oz 21 inches came into this world. I have never felt so much love for a person that I had just met! And then to loose a person I had grown to love, respect, and cherish so much on April 3, 2006...Jack G. Mills, JR (Bubba's dad). Nobody will ever replace that man in my life. He was the one I would call when I didn't think Bubba should get his way when we were having an argument! hahaha! And to let you know, he always looked at both sides equally! August 27th, 2007 moving to Clara Springs Baptist Camp. Now knowing EXACTLY why God made me....and what HE created me for. Finally understanding my place in Bubba's ministry. And loving every minute of it! And then again...January 27th, 2008 Jenna LaFleur Mills (8 lbs 11 oz, 20.5 inches) came into our life. I was so scared I wouldn't love her as much as I did Makayla...but I fell hard with that first cry (that sounded like a baby pig). Blessed is what I feel right now recalling just a part of my life. Blessed that I have the most awesome parents, siblings, and grandparents that started this legacy! Blessed that I married into such a wonderful family. Blessed to have the friends God has chosen for me! Blessed is what I've been for the past 28 years...what is God going to have for me for the next 28 years? I just hope I can cherish it all. I'm thinking in just a few weeks, my heart will fall in love again with yet another precious little girl! So, a very special day today...I'm 28 on the 28th. I just pray that God feels that way about me today...that I am special...fearfully & wonderfully made!

Our CrAzY liFe!

So, generaly on a daily basis we don't know what our day is going to hold. Kind of like the Forrest Gump saying, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get." Well, today for example I had to sit in a waiting room for 2 hours for the girls to see their doctor. They have both had the "crud" and they have gotten worse. Well, I am trying to become a more patient person, so I practiced today. And I observed....boy did I observe. The girls were pleasant. They pushed the little chairs around the waiting room several times and for the most part sat and watched Max & Ruby on the tv. What I observed was an impatient grandma with a sassy granddaughter who wouldn't take no as an answer....and a mother too busy on her laptop to give her 2 children any attention...and they were BEGGING for it. Now, I'm not any better than these 2! But like I said earlier...I was trying to observe people today. I realized that, yes I'm giving up 2 hours of probably valuable time WAITING in a small waiting room with whiny kids...but I was there...I was there for my 2 girls. I listened to them, I paid attention to them...and they were GOOD! So maybe, the problems that I have had with discipline, in mainly Makayla, is a result of my lack of attention to her...I'm still pondering this one!
So, that was just a piece of my day. The rest was getting the few groceries/meds we needed, driving an hour home, ordering food from both Ben E. Keith & Sysco for this weekends events, laundry, wiping down the whole house with LYSOL, cooking supper, cleaning up after supper, bathing 2 little girls (who miraculously feel much better after 2 doses of meds), and....I'm thankful...Thankful that I have this ALL OF THIS! Would I change my days...NOPE! I might not know how to act if I lived a "NORMAL" life!

St. Patrick's Day and Ramblings...

So, today is St. Patrick's Day. Did you know that he was a patron saint of Ireland who spread Christianity. He used the clover's three leaves to explain the Trinity. Neat right? So, before we heard this knowledge on KLOVE this morning, Bubba asked Makayla who was St. Patrick. "Daddy! That's PongeBob (that would be Sponge Bob we still can't say our S's) friend Patrick! Everybody knows that." Sorry...didn't know that one.
So, last night as I was giving the little girls a bath, I asked Makayla where we were going tomorrow (today)? "Mom, we are going to get our baby. I told everybody that!" "No, Makayla, we are going to go and see what our baby is!" To my reply I get,"Mommy will the baby have brown hair like us?" "I'm not sure Makayla. It will be black and white." Makayla:"OUR BABY IS GOING TO BE BLACK? Like Ahagamy (her friend Mahogany)??? Momma we are white!" oh my I'm thinking! "No, Makayla the baby's picture is going to be IN black and white! Our baby is white." Sweet child of mine!
This morning, Bubba tells me that at 3:45am God told him the name Julia Paige. Sounds good honey...but we are not going to have to use it! Well, we had our ultrasound and....Julia Paige it is! We were able to see our sweet, healthy little girl. She weighs only 6 oz. right now, and her feet are a little under an inch long! Makayla was the only one upset about this news. She told the ultrasound lady, "We asked for a boy. Please look again. It's supposed to be a boy not another girl!" hahaha. I am actually excited! I think by now I have figured out these little girls. And plus, we are obviously the ones to carry on the Mills Girls tradition and all the drama that goes along with it.....trust me...with the Mills girls...there is ALWAYS drama..this goes way back to Bubba's aunts! hahahaha!
SO, that's that. Friday, Bubba and I leave for Nashville (thank you Red River Association and The Davis') for a much needed vacation/babymoon!

Makayla at school

So, Makayla is a big Preschooler now. And boy have things changed in our house this past year. She loves school (momma & Jenna love her being at school!!) and she has learned so much. She has a wonderful teacher this year (Miss Chanler) and has made many friends. One of them is named Mahagony or according to Makayla her name is Ahagamy. (she is a little black girl who is very sweet)
We also have tons of funny stories about Makayla that Miss Chanler shares with us often. One time Mak was asked who was the boss in her house. The reply? My mommy! She's the boss of the kitchen...of course!
Ask Makayla about her boyfriend? She has 2: her daddy and Prince Jarred (our summer lifeguard for the camp). Oh, and her daddy well, he used to be a frog until she kissed him and he turned into a Prince!!
Ahagamy asked Miss Chanler today why wasn't she a black teacher. Miss Chanler replied, "Why do I have to be black?" Well, Ahagamy said,"Because the rest of us are." Miss Chanler reminded her of the white students and of course Makayla spoke up and said, "yeah I want a teacher this color!" and pointed to her own arm!!
Makayla also has a special bond with one of the helpers at Pelican, Mrs. Simms. They compare socks and shoes every morning...EVERY morning!! I still don't know if Pelican really knows what has hit them with Makayla the fashionista being there!
I could go on for more...but I can't!! I know my child is probably just like yours and I'm sure you have more funny stories then what we have....she may not be the best child, or the smartest.....but she's ours.We love her so much....and are really proud of Makayla. She is becoming a sweet, beautiful little girl! And she's a Mills!!

There's a baby in your belly

So yesterday, Jenna came and woke me up from my nap. She crawled in bed with me and she was acting so crazy! I had to fuss and tell her to please not kick mommy in her belly because there was a baby in there. So, Jenna kissed my belly and said, "Hey baby brudder. I love you!!" over and over again! Then she told me there was a baby in her belly. I told her that only mommies had babies in their bellys. "There's a baby in my eye, mommy! A baby in my eye!" she exclaimed!! How do you explain that one!?! hahaha!
We are 15 weeks pregnant today and Wednesday I will go for my "weigh in" appointment. That's what I call those where you go, get weighed, pee in a cup, blood pressure checked, and baby's heart beat heard. And after this weigh in we will schedule my next ultrasound to see what little Mills is!!!!I can't wait!!!!

Life on the Mills Farm

The Mills Farm........began June 14th, 2003. Many things have happened the past 6 1/2 years we have been in operation! Jack (Bubba) and I have a pretty awesome marriage (not perfect...but who is?), 2 daughters--Makayla Grace born August 3rd, 2005 and Jenna LaFleur born January 24th, 2008. We also have 2 dogs...Jess Bell adopted into our family July 2003...old, lazy, stubborn, but still sweet Boston Terrier and Jolie LaFleur adopted November 2009...laid back, crazy Miniature Schnauzer. We also have a baby on the way!! In 3 weeks we will find out what this little one is....Makayla and Jenna know it's a boy! We'll see. The baby is due August 22nd!
We are in the ministry. My husband is the camp Minister (not a manager he says) at Clara Springs Baptist Camp in Pelican, Louisiana. If you don't know where this is.....you should find out!! It is a beautiful place God has blessed us with serving at!
www.clarasprings.com is our website! I am in charge of the Kitchen!!! Thank God I love to cook and love even more to serve.
Everyday is a NEW adventure. Running the camp, raising kids, and just the everyday of trying to survive is an adventure to us!! Makayla who is in prek.....and thinks she's 15 is becoming such a funny little person. Jenna the big 2 year old is becoming more and more comical in her own sly way...she is her father's child!!
Would I ever change anything about the Mills Farm? Not right now! I love this life God has given us! Stay tuned for more adventures on The Mills Farm!
